The 4 Days gorilla trip to Rwanda offers a great opportunity to visit Africa’s endangered mountain gorillas and trek to Dian Fossey Grave Yard in near Karisoke research center, where Dian fossey spent close to 20 years studying about Mountain Gorillas. The place is nestled between the beautiful peaks of Visoke and Karisimbi.Below is the proposed itinerary;
Day 1: Travel from Kigali to Volcano national park.
In the morning, you will transfer to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri, where you will check in Kinigi guest house/Gorilla Nest Lodge for your accommodation, as you prepare for the next days adventurous trek. In the evening, you may be treated to cultural visits by the Banyarwanda.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking Adventure in Volcanoes National Park
In the morning, you will have briefing at the headquarters before setting off for the adorable gorilla trek in the virunga hills in the rain forest. Packed food will be carried, as lunch can only be self provided, since trekking may take 3 to 6 hours depending on the availability of the gorillas due to their movements in their natural environment. Then retreat to you hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: visit to Dian Fossey and Genocide Memorials
In the morning, you will get briefing before visiting the former Karisoke centre where Dian Fossey, an American primatologist’s grave is located. You will be treated with beautiful views of forested slopes, and amazing environment. After the visit, you will drive back to Kigali, where you may visit some of the genocide memorials. Dinner and overnight in Kigali.
Day 4: Tour of Kigali and departure.
Depending on your flight schedule, you may be driven around the city to visit some of the sites and the craft market, and later transfer to the airport for your return flight back home.
